*hugs* I'm not alone! :D

It's not exactly the same as what I do, but both are subconscious actions we've somehow "learnt" to do. I remember doing it as a kid (I was at least 6), while trying to fall asleep. Every night I would do the exact same thing. I wonder if I inadvertently trained myself into doing that.

Btw, I don't think commenting on old blog posts, should be a considered a bad or unpolite thing. I actually appreciate it, cause that means people are still interested and are reading my stuff. Even though I wrote it 'ages' ago, it took just the same time and effort as all the newer posts. So, thanks for reading this!

Hey, I realise this comment may be a little after time (is there some kind of blog comment etiquette? hmm), but just so you know you're not alone, I sit and outline shapes of things subconsciously as well. I'll be watching TV and outlining it continuously with my big toe, trying to use the least amount of lines, or how to draw it like an etch-a-sketch without "lifting off the paper".

@Rachel: The brain sometimes deals weirdly with languages. I still sometimes have the weird occurrence of suddenly switching to Dutch during an English conversation or vice versa; just because my mind was thinking of some phrase in the one language, it decides to switch over. Always feels stupid when that happens.

@Reinier: If only :-)

[...] Melinda just did a “8 Things You Didn’t Know About Me” and tagged “anyone who read the article” to feel free to do their own version. Admittedly I do read her blog and so here I am writing my own list of 8 things you probably didn’t know about me. [...]

I had a fascination with Anglo-Saxon when I was young, although it never got further than the languages I had to study at school - French, German and Spanish. I later tried to study Spanish at night school and did OK, but it never stuck.

Interestingly, I was in Barcelona this weekend and the brain knew it was a foreign language but did not quite grasp which one. It did not want to supply me with Spanish, but kept giving me the Dutch for things, which was pretty thing to do ;)
