As I kid, I saw the opening to the old Freddy Krueger TV show, and I had nightmares for weeks about him. The Shining is another one that scared the hell out of me as a kid. These days though, I love horror movies, especially Japanese ones, and a few french ones.

@Hannah: I actually was planning to do another blog post about which movies made me jump up the most. I once jumped so much, I had a spasm and kicked a glass off the table. Had to stop the movie to clean everything up :S

@Jess: That's the main reason I refuse to watch horror movies in the cinema. I much rather prefer my couch with blanket to hide behind, plus boyfriend to snuggle up to. And.. if the movie turns out to be too scary, I can always switch it off :)

I went to the cinema a few years a go with one of my mates and we were watching "The Grudge". I actually thought about leaving the cinema, but I paid for it so I stayed, - couldnt sleep that night.

Not completely scared but "I Know What You Did Last Summer" made me jump so high that I actually didn't sleep that night (I was at my friends house so I just laid there listening to the traffic as she lives next to a supermarket)

You're right; these are quite weak horror movies. Three of them aren't even horror, I would say. Maybe I should have been a bit more clearer though: these aren't movies that scared me during watching them. There are plenty of horror movies that had me completely blanket clenching/hiding and jumping up from fright, but these aren't those. These are the movies that actually gave me nightmares afterwards, because my imagination took them and turned them into my "monsters under the bed".

Alright, not to pick on you, but those are some powerful-weak horror movies. What about The Strangers, The Descent, The Blair Witch Project, The Hills Have Eyes? It's not Halloween unless you spend at least part of the night with a white-knuckled grip on a loved on: )

Ringu, REC, Let the Right One In, Spoorloos, and El Orfanto are all GREAT foreign horror films, though, if the store's out of the old stand-by's Halloween night.
