I completely forgot about the Tony awards this year! I still have to see if I can watch the entire broadcast, but I found at least some cool bits with Neil Patrick Harris:
Wow, how many songs did you recognize? I haven’t found a list yet that mentions all of them.
Los Angeles coroner Tommy Rossman is the man they call when things go wrong.
This so reminded me of Mira Grant’s Newsflesh series! I really like the idea of a post-zombie attack world that isn’t completely rundown and apocalyptic; it’s just our world, but with extra contingencies in place to deal with zombies.
What if the afterlife was ruined by lawyers? This is an awesome video created by Tom Scott. It’s been out for a while now, but I just hadn’t gotten around to posting it; ah well, better late than never:
After last week’s post about NBC’s new show Revolution, Reinier commented that some shots were taken from the short movie RUIN. I hadn’t seen RUIN yet, but it’s an awesome short:
Turns out Bad Robot asked the creator permission to use those shots, but as far as I can tell he’s not involved in the project in any other way. My guess is that the studio still needs to get their own CGI/matte shots done and the RUIN shots were only for the promo. It’s still a good 4 months until the show airs, so they should come up with something just as awesome.
It’s 10 days to the Eurovision Song Contest! I always find it so cheesy, but it can be great to watch with a huge group of (sarcastic) friends. Most of the time I don’t bother looking at the entries before the day, except to see what the Netherlands and the UK were doing. When I heard that San Marino’s entry was called The Social Network, I just had to watch it. And wow…
I have a little confession to make: up until yesterday I had never seen Alien or Aliens before. It’s just one of those movie series I never got around to watching. Anyhow I finally saw both Alien and Aliens yesterday; Alien just at home on my tv, Aliens at the Prince Charles cinema as part of a Mass Effect 3 launch (sidenote: seeing the ME3 trailer on a big screen is awesome). It’s great to have finally seen both these movies, and finally understand what all the fuss is about. I liked Alien, I looooved Aliens.
So of course now I’m super excited for Prometheus. And it seems they’ve got some interesting (viral) marketing stuff going on. A couple weeks ago this TED talk appeared set in the year 2023 with Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland:
Are you excited for Prometheus?
Wow, the last couple of weeks have been so super busy, I’ve again managed to neglect this blog. Sometime soon though I should have something exciting to share with you all…
Anyway it’s the day before Christmas and I need to catch up on Christmas posts! This awesome song from Tim Minchin has been doing the rounds the past two days (it was sadly cut from tonight’s Jonathan Ross show):
How have I not seen this video before?!? David Tennant remains my favourite Doctor.
This is quite an old video (well, “old”. It’s from January this year. It’s only “old” in internet time), but I hadn’t come across it before now.
