Episode 82: slash… slash… slash…

Arrr, I love me some pirates:

Episode 81: *look at me! I’m so cute!*

This may officially be the cutest animal ever:

Episode 80: “Grrr…”

Octopuses in love. Need I say more?

Episode 78: “With these broken wings I’m falling”

This song from Nickelback was mentioned in one of the books I finished this week (Dark-Hunter fans, you know what I’m talking about), but I had never heard of it before (yeah, not that much of a music geek, me). So what does a girl do in that situation? Look it up on YouTube of course!

I don’t really like the song itself. Perhaps it may have been better, if someone other than Freddy Chad Kroeger was singing it, but with his raspy voice? Nope, didn’t fit for me. What I did like though was the clip:

Episode 78: “You’re running Mac or PC?”

I have no idea where these Muppets videos come from. It seems they’re meant as “web-clips”, but I wonder if they have anything to do with the upcoming (still to be filmed though) Muppets movie.

Episode 77: “You sound like a poodle”

I’m a huge fan of Joss Whedon and for me it all started with Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I was 13 when that show began and was immediately addicted to it. I still think there isn’t any other show quite like Buffy.

Sometime during the run of the series, the idea for an animated series came up. It would be set during Buffy’s high school years, but in the alternative where Dawn exists. Because of a whole bunch of problems, the series never got produced (read more here). However, a 4-minute promo was once made, which now finally after 4 years has cropped up:

It doesn’t completely feel right for me (the dialogue doesn’t seem that polished), but I would have loved to see this series. Thank god, we now have Season 8 though, right?

Episode 76: “Magic is all about directing attention”

Here’s a great TED talk about ‘Brain Magic’, deceiving and misdirecting the brain. It starts off with a cool trick, that I still haven’t figured out yet. Anyone care to explain?

Episode 75: “It was the best of times…”

During Mashed a couple of us were asked to make some fake trailers to be shown before the midnight movie. Jane and I created this one: A Tale of Two Bean Bags (most credit goes to Jane for coming up with the idea).

A Tale of Two Bean Bags from Cristiano Betta on Vimeo.

There’s also a second trailer that I kind of wrote and directed, but nobody understand its (I’m a misunderstood film maker, sniff). I’ll post it in a couple of days, see if any of you can figure it out.

Episode 74: “He big in nothing, important in good elephant”

I discovered this a couple of years ago, but it remains hilarious. A guy bought a dvd of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, while in China and it wasn’t completely what he expected. It contained English subtitles, but they were translations of the Chinese interpretation… and sometimes they were way, way off:

If you don’t want to watch the entire thing, the guy who discovered it has got a blog post up with the most hilarious translations.

Episode 73: “I will never say anything that couldn’t stand as the last thing I say”

I don’t really listen to classical music. It’s not that I don’t like it; some of it I do. I just have never taken the time to figure out which ones I exactly like. This TED talk about classical music is enough to convince me I should find the time:
