TV Preview: Ringer
Wow, I’ve managed to stay away from blogging for more than month (42 days to be exact). As I’ve said in a previous post, I was planning on writing less here (because of my master’s thesis), but I never thought I’d not write here for an entire month. My research is going good though and I do feel that not blogging is freeing up a lot of time I hadn’t realized I was using. Anyhow, I’ll try to do some more regular updates, but don’t expect any lengthy posts any time soon.
I used to love love love Buffy The Vampire Slayer; it still remains my favourite TV show (even after 10+ years… ouch, I feel old). I was never a huge fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar though, and most things she’s done post-Buffy haven’t really been that interesting. I am very curious to see how her new TV show RInger turns out though.
Gellar plays the dual roles of twin sisters Bridget and Siobhan Martin. Bridget seems to have a troubled past: she’s a recovering alcoholic, is somehow involved with the FBI, frankly things don’t seem going that well for her. Siobhan on the other hand, seems to have the perfect life: rich, married to a gorgeous husband and not a problem in sight. When Siobhan goes missing, Bridget decides to take over her twin sister’s life, but soon realizes that not everything is as perfect as it seems.
Here’s the trailer:
So what do you think? Will you be tuning in to Ringer come fall? I’m not too sure yet, but it looks as if it could have some potential. Again, it’s one of those series though that doesn’t seem to have much longevity (maybe it would have worked better as a mini series?) and doesn’t seem to have any stand-alone episodes at all. The mystery looks intriguing though, and I’m curious to see how it will do.
