Trailerrific: Gotham

May 13th, 2014

Okay, this looks great:

When I first heard about Gotham, I was expecting something more cheesy like Smallville, but this? This looks watchable. Fingers crossed that it’s not just good editing.

Can’t. Wait.

TV Preview: Defiance

January 9th, 2013

I had heard about Defiance a while ago, but this is the first proper trailer I’ve seen of it. The idea is interesting: it’s an upcoming scifi TV show on Syfy AND an upcoming MMO video game which was created alongside the TV show. I’m super excited to see how that turns out!

Here’s the first full length trailer:

I like the look of this! The acting doesn’t look fantastic, but the style and world look quite interesting. The series is set in the near future after Earth has declared ceasefire with the Votan, a collection of seven alien species seeking a new home after their solar system was destroyed. The Wikipedia page goes into more detail of the different alien species (well, 5 out of the seven at the time of writing this), each with their own unique facial/body features and even their own language (they’ve got the linguist that created the Dothraki language for Game of Thrones).

What do you think of the trailer? Something you’ll end up watching? Defiance is set to premiere on the Syfy channel on Monday April 15th.

Somehow with all the Olympic stuff happening I managed to completely miss this new Doctor Who trailer:

Can’t wait till this airs! Series 7 will have 6 episodes airing in 2012 (including the Christmas special), and 8 episodes in 2013. Amy and Rory will appear in the first 5 episodes, while a new companion will be introduced in the Christmas special.

Ooh, most of the networks have released trailers for their new Fall TV shows! There are some shows that show potential, some that don’t grab me at all (but will do well with others) and some that I think just will fail miserably. I don’t think I’ve seen a trailer yet that’s screamed at me: “oh my god, oh my god, this is so awesome, I need to go watch that”.

First network I’m covering is CBS who are premiering 4 new shows this Fall: Elementary, Vegas, Made In Jersey and Partners.

Elementary

*cough* Sherlock rip-off *cough*

I think if BBC’s Sherlock hadn’t happened, then this would have looked potentially interesting. Then again if BBC’s Sherlock hadn’t happened, this wouldn’t have either; it’s clearly riding the coattails of the buzz that Sherlock created (and the Sherlock movies with Robert Downey Jr.). I like the twist of making Watson female, and the leads look like they have chemistry, but I’m scared that this is going to be very procedural (don’t forget, it is CBS).

Vegas

When I heard the description of this I wasn’t interested at all. But seeing the trailer with Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis and Carrie-Anne Moss has got me a bit more interested. Very curious to see how this does.

Made In Jersey

I think this will go on my To-Watch-If-I-Don’t-Have-Anything-Else-At-All. It looks like it could be fun, but I don’t think it will survive a full season.

Partners

Will & Grace 2.0. I’ll give it a go, cause of Michael Urie and Brandon Routh, but I didn’t laugh at all during the trailer (not a good sign).

Ooh, it’s that time of the year when the current TV shows are ending and the new Fall shows are being announced. There have been some awesome season finales this year, but I’ll write more about that in a later post (once all the shows I’m watching has ended). Most of the picked-up pilots haven’t released anything yet, but NBC is this year ahead of the curve with some actual trailers. From the 6 trailers they released, only Revolution looked interesting to me:

I’m not completely convinced by the trailer yet though; I think it has a lot of potential, but visually it looks a bit too much like a crappy B-movie. The story though looks like it could be interesting, although it does have a bit of a Lost vibe going on that so many shows have been trying to recreate. Despite that though Revolution is definitely going on my To Watch list for this Fall; we need more post-apocalyptic sci-fi on TV!

What did you think of the Revolution trailer? Yay or Nay?

I loved the first season of Game of Thrones, so obviously I’m excited for season 2! I finished the fifth book just before Christmas, and I’m so curious to how this series will end. It’s weird though that I’ll have to wait at least 4 years (most probably more) to see those words translated to the small screen. Assuming, that is, it won’t be cancelled at a certain moment.

The new trailer got released this weekend, and it’s looking great! There are a couple of casting choices that I’m not too sure about, but this trailer doesn’t really show those yet:
