Monopoly is one of those games I have a love-hate relationship with. I used to play it a lot with my siblings and Dad, so I’ve got some great memories playing that game. But Monopoly itself though? The actual gameplay? I don’t really like it. Chances are that it’s because I suck horribly at it, but there’s just something about the gameplay that hasn’t clicked in my head. Most other games I can quickly see what the logical approach of playing the game is, but with Monopoly I’m sorely lacking that.
Despite that though, I used to love playing it and my family has quite a couple of different themed sets of Monopoly (Star Wars and Pokemon are my favourites). So I might have squee-ed a bit when I saw this awesome Princess Bride version:

Aren’t these measuring cups the cutest? They’re available on Modcloth for $34.99.

Ooh, this jewelry is just so gorgeous (and pricy, but let’s forget about that for now and just drool at the pretties):

Me Wantz: Bookish Charms

November 22nd, 2011

I need more geeky necklaces! Even though I often blog about these amazing geeky jewelry, I don’t splurge enough and buy them for myself. This week I stumbled on some awesome necklaces for book geeks!

Etsy store Bookish Charms makes jewelry and accessories for the bookish, with necklaces featuring quotes from books (although she has now also expanded to TV show quotes). Here are my favourites:

Awesome, right? My favourites are the “Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey” one and the “Winter is Coming” one. Depending on the quote, the necklaces range from $14.50 to $18.50. Take a look at the Bookish Charms Etsy page for more items.

Me Wantz: Morse Code Necklace

November 16th, 2011

This is so subtly geeky, and looks pretty! I wonder how many people would figure it out. COATT designs necklaces, each spelling out a word in morse code.

This one is “lucky“:

And this one is the obvious “sos“:

My favourites are the above two necklaces (I would so love to have the sos one in silver), but they also do more designs like “love”, “friend” and “peace”. Most of the necklaces cost $36, but it depends on the amount of bits used (the above ones all cost $36). You can also get a custom name one for $56.

Me Wantz: Pipe Corner Shelf

November 11th, 2011

Ooh, now this a cool way to show off your favourite books:

This would look great in my living room! Bonus: my cats wouldn’t be able to clamber all over it (I hope).

You can get it from this etsy store for $89.

Halloween is almost here! Which always makes me want to watch Nightmare Before Christmas (even though it’s more of a Christmas movie). I love Night Before Christmas and I love most things book related. So mix them together and chances are I’ll like the result:

Cute, right? It wouldn’t work in my house though, most of my bookcases are completely full, so I don’t need book ends. I’m actually at the point where I’m tempted to get another bookcase, cause I’m running out of space!

The Nightmare Before Christmas book ends are $49.99 from ThinkGeek.

Me Wantz: Super Mario Heels

October 19th, 2011

These heels are awesome!

They’re a personal project from Jamie Ferraioli, and sadly she doesn’t have any plans on making more of them. I would love to create something like this myself though, but I’m not exactly skilled at painting…

Me Wantz: Steampunk Dice

September 29th, 2011

These dice from etsy store MecahnicalOddities look awesome:

Too bad they are a bit too pricy: $11.50 for a single die…

I love some of the tees from J!NX and they’ve now released some new Portal 2 items… including these knee-high socks:

I am so, so tempted! They’re only £9.99 (although only $9.99 in the US, not exactly a fair conversion). I also love their Portal Earrings (£12.99):

Then there’s their cute Keep Calm and Continue Testing tee:

What do you think? Should I get these?
