Bacon! This one is for all you bacon lovers out there. After coming across a couple of bacon related products, I just knew I had to do an entire post around those. And there are some weird bacon things out there… I like bacon, but I’m not sure I like it quite this much. If you’re interested in my other Christmas Gift Guides, check out the gift guides for The Fantasy Reader and The Gamer Girl.

Bacon Pillow

I love the description for this product: “There’s conclusive, scientific proof that bacon is an intellectual food. It’s right there in the periodic table! Barium, cobalt and nitrogen. BA CO N. Read it and weep, bacon haters. This pillow makes it very clear that you’re not one to be trifled with when it comes to the ultimate food. Show your brainpower and bacon-lust in one easy decoration!” It’s $35 at YellowBugBoutique.

Aw, these are so adorable. I wish they were actual gummy bears though, not just soap in the shape of them. There available for only $4 at FrostedCrossbones (awesome shop name).

Video of The Day: Memorize

December 14th, 2012

In 2027, everyone is implanted with a chip – the Memorize-chip. It records everything you see, a new system to fight crime. One unit controls the system. The SSU – Special Surveillance Unit:

Alicia Keys was on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night and this is what she performed:

Awesome. Any other artists out there who want to rendition of old TV show theme songs? I’d love to hear a ballad version of Mysterious Cities of Gold…

Cool Stuff: Toys Unleashed

November 17th, 2012

Last Tuesday I got invited to the launch of the Toys Unleashed app from Barclaycard. It’s a cute little game to tie in with their latest Christmas ad campaign:

Using Augmented Reality, Toys Unleashed places three adorable toys to play with in the palm of your hand. You can play with Mr B the monkey, where you have to aim bananas into the monkey’s hand. You can feed different types of food to Chomp the dinosaur. And you can protect Mike the robot from attacking UFOs. The games seem pretty simple, but they’re trickier than they look!

The cool thing during the launch though was that they painted a gigantic street art hand, exactly opposite where LeStudio52 used to be! It was fun playing the game on such a huge hand and seeing part of it being painted. Here’s a time lapse of the street art painting (I appear very briefly round the 49 second mark!):

Sometimes you have days where you just want to go:

AARGHHH!

For those days we have this lovely necklace from Tatty Devine (£35):

For those days where you want to go “Uurghhh” we have this necklace (£35):

And finally for those days where we just want to go “Grrrr” we have this one (£21):

Now all I need is a “Grr. Argh.” necklace…

I only discovered Lindsey Stirling’s YouTube videos a couple of weeks ago, but her videos are awesome. She does beautiful violin covers of popular geeky soundtracks, and cosplays the characters in her videos. In the past she’s done Game of Thrones, Lord of The Rings and Zelda, but also more poppy songs like We Found Love, Grenade and Starships. In her latest video she takes on the Assassin’s Creed III theme:

Me Wantz: Dice Rings

November 1st, 2012

I love geeky jewellery. I’ve been slowly building my collection of geeky yet pretty necklaces, but still don’t own any geeky rings or earrings (unless you count an ankh as geeky, which in this case it sort of might be since it comes from my teen obsession with Egyptian mythology and history).

Anyways, this Kickstarter project looks great and shall hopefully find a place in my geeky jewellery collection: Dice Rings! They’re spinner rings where an outer smaller ring spins in a grooved inner ring. I’ve seen these before but never with dice featured on them. So handy!

They are several type of pledges:

  • $5 Immortal Word Smith: a personal quote on their website
  • $15 Lone Adventurer: Any 1 ring, any size or available color.
  • $40 Gambler: 3 rings (rCards, r%, 2r6),  any size or available color.
  • $42 Gamer Lite: Your pick of any 3 rings, any size or available color.
  • $70 Multiclasser: Your pick of any 5 rings, any size or available color.
  • $90 Classic Player: 7 rings (r4, r6, r8, r10, r12, r20 and r%), any size or available color.
  • $130 Game Master: Your pick of any 10 rings, any size or available color.
  • $1000 Hands of Royalty: You will be their hand model. You’ll get every type of ring, but you’ll need to take photos.
  • $5000 Battle-Hardened Comrade: Come and hang out with the founders for an entire weekend.
For shipping outside of US and Canada, there’s a $10 shipping fee. I’m very tempted to do the Gamer Lite pledge. The rings look great and so geeky! I only can’t decide which rings to go for…

What do you think of the Dice Rings? Cool or too geeky?
