I went on holiday and I saw: a Weeping Angel, a sonic screwdriver and a dalek. This t-shirt design from Don’t Blink Tees (Doctor Who tees FTW) is awesome:

You can get it for $20 on a standard t-shirt or for $24 on an American Apparel fitted t-shirt.

Movie Preview: Life of Pi

November 18th, 2012

Back in July in one of my Trailerrific Thursday posts I featured the first trailer for Life of Pi. I still haven’t read the book on which it is based, but I’m so looking forward to see this movie. Well, some of you won’t have to wait any longer, cause it’s being released in cinemas in the US this week (21st of November to be exact)! In the UK we’ll have to wait for another month, which isn’t too bad considering certain other movies (*cough* Wreck-It-Ralph *cough, cough* Cloud Atlas).

Life of Pi is based on the best selling novel of the same name and is directed by Ang Lee. Visually I think this movie is going to be stunning, just take a look at the trailer:

I’m still wondering whether or not I should read the book first or go into the movie completely blind (well, as blind as you can be, after having watching the trailer, seen the posters, etc). Have you read the book? What would you suggest?

Thanks to 20th Century Fox, I’ve also got some movie stills and set photos to share with you:

Miss Geeky In Antwerp

November 18th, 2012

I love the camera on the iPhone! It’s just so much better than the one on my iPod Touch and the photos I take turn out awesome. Since I’ve gotten it, I’ve barely touched my DSLR; it just doesn’t feel like I get that much extra in lugging around a heavy camera.

So when I went to Antwerpen for a very quick less-than-48-hour visit last week, I only bought my phone along with me. I didn’t have that much time to do a lot of sightseeing, but managed to wander around the historical center for a few hours and snap some pretty shots.

For lunch we had a lovely boeren omelet (farmer’s omelette) at a small cafe called De Zon (The Sun, which was a bit ironic seeing how bad grey the weather was). It was filled with lots of bacon and veggies, although I wasn’t much of a fan of the brussel sprouts:

Cool Stuff: Toys Unleashed

November 17th, 2012

Last Tuesday I got invited to the launch of the Toys Unleashed app from Barclaycard. It’s a cute little game to tie in with their latest Christmas ad campaign:

Using Augmented Reality, Toys Unleashed places three adorable toys to play with in the palm of your hand. You can play with Mr B the monkey, where you have to aim bananas into the monkey’s hand. You can feed different types of food to Chomp the dinosaur. And you can protect Mike the robot from attacking UFOs. The games seem pretty simple, but they’re trickier than they look!

The cool thing during the launch though was that they painted a gigantic street art hand, exactly opposite where LeStudio52 used to be! It was fun playing the game on such a huge hand and seeing part of it being painted. Here’s a time lapse of the street art painting (I appear very briefly round the 49 second mark!):

Yesterday during the Children In Need live broadcast a short prequel to the Doctor Who Christmas special was shown. It looks great:

And there’s a brand new trailer:

I’m still very curious to see how Jenna-Louise Coleman will fit in to all this. She and Matt Smith are saying that she isn’t the same character, but somehow that only makes me think that she is. But how? The other guess for now is that she’s an ancestor of Oswin, but somehow that seems to be too simple an explanation. I’m hoping it’s a bit more mysterious than that. What do you think? Any theories?

I really like New Look’s dresses. They tend to be pretty flattering for my body type, with cool prints and designs. They just released their new line and created this video featuring Flawless to show off some of the new outfits:

My favourite is the Cream Flower dress that you appears as first in the video. It’s only £29.99 and I’m tempted to get this as my Christmas party dress this year:

The second one I like appears around the 52 second mark. It’s a sleeveless black dress with a flower lace front panel (£24.99):

Again I’m tempted by this dress, but I’m pretty sure I have a dress already with that exact same lace print. Still it look awesome.

What is your favourite dress/outfit from the video? Anything you’re tempted by?

Sometimes you have days where you just want to go:

AARGHHH!

For those days we have this lovely necklace from Tatty Devine (£35):

For those days where you want to go “Uurghhh” we have this necklace (£35):

And finally for those days where we just want to go “Grrrr” we have this one (£21):

Now all I need is a “Grr. Argh.” necklace…

This cool photo was taken at MozFest last weekend: we were all asked to posed as monsters/zombies/whatever. Can you find me in it?

Look at the original larger version if you want to see all the details. It’s a great photo and some of the faces and posed people do are awesome.

Were you there? Have you found yourself?

A while ago I saw this cool tee on Threadless called Come Away With Me featuring the Tardis/The Doctor and Cinderella:

That tee is sadly sold out now, but it turns out that it was designed by artist Karen Hallion and she’s done a couple of other cool Doctor Who and Disney mashups. You can check out her DeviantArt page and her etsy shop where she sells prints of her illustrations.

My favourite design of hers is Part of Every World and is currently on sale as a tee-shirt on Ript:

Besides that tee, she’s currently got one called Adventure Awaits with Belle from Beauty and the Beast as a submission on Threadless; hopefully it will be made!

Finally I found two other Doctor Who related ones on her DeviantArt page. The first is with Rapunzel (You Comin’ Blondie?):

The second with Jack Skellington (Who’s This? Who’s This?):

Cool tees, right? I wonder which Disney character the Doctor will visit next…
