45 Days Later

February 15th, 2014

Yep, it’s been 45 days since I last blogged. I still can’t believe it’s been quite that long, but the past few weeks have been so busy and manic. I’ve moved to a shiny new river-side flat, work has moved to shiny new offices at the British Library, and I went on a 2 week trip to Orlando.

I’ll blog about Disney more in the next days, but as a sneak peek here are some photos of the trip:

Miss Geeky’s 2013 Highlights

December 31st, 2013

I can’t quite believe how quick this year has gone by! Looking back I’m amazed at what I got to do this year. Here are a couple of my highlights:

shiny

I got engaged! I love the ring Cristiano gave me. It’s got a ruby in the middle and 32 diamonds in the band; geeky, but not too obvious.

Me at the BAFTAs

I went to the BAFTAS. I still adore the dress I got. I just wish I had another chance to wear it.

triathlon

I finished a triathlon (well, one thirds of a triathlon, but still, it’s more than I’ve done before!)

FutureLearn Cupcakes

I worked on FutureLearn and we launched in September! It’s so awesome to see actual people use something I’ve worked on.

The view from our room!

I went on my first proper holiday in like 7 years. The hotel we got in Croatia was quiet and relaxing, just what we needed after such a busy year!

So what were your highlights of 2013?

I still haven’t finished the Wheel of Time series (and I’m at the point where I’m seriously wondering if I ever will), but it is one of the first fantasy series that I started reading. This necklace featuring the Wheel and the Great Serpent is awesome:

The necklace is available on ThinkGeek in bronze for $24.99 and in silver for $61.99.

Video of The Day: Let It Go

December 17th, 2013

I finally went to see Frozen yesterday and I loved it! One of my favourite moments of the movie is Idina Menzel’s rendition of Let It Go:

I can’t quite believe it’s halfway December already! The past few weeks have been so busy with various exciting things happening (which I should hare with you all soon!). Because of that I’ve missed a ton of cool trailers that got released; so many epic looking movies are coming next year. Here’s a roundup of all the awesomeness heading our way:

Jupiter Ascending

Woah. I’m not completely sure what’s going on in this trailer, but I so want to see this. Knowing the Wachowski’s it’s going to be unique in some way.

Release Date: 18, July 2014 (US), 25 July 2014 (UK)

Edge of Tomorrow

This looks awesome! Based on Oblivion, I’m wary of how original this will be, but it does look like a lot of fun. Emily Blunt looks badass and the whole sci-fi Groundhog Day feel to it could make it quite epic. Sidenote: hi Greenwhich, nice to see you again!

Release Date: 30 May 2014 (UK), 6 June 2014 (US)

Godzilla

GODZILLA!

Release Date: 16 May 2014 (UK, US)

300: Rise of an Empire

Yay for more kickass female characters! Eva Green looks amazing as Artemisia as does Lena Headey reprising her role as Queen Gorgo.

Release Date: 7 March 2014 (UK, US)

Noah

Darren Aronofsky is one of my favourite directors, so I’m curious to see his take on the Noah story.

Release Date: 28 March 2014 (UK, US)

Muppets Most Wanted

I liked the last Muppet movie. It wasn’t the best Muppet movie ever, but it had some great moments in it and it was fun to see the Muppets back on our screens. This latest movie seems to be the same; fun, but not the best movie ever.

Release Date: 28 March 2014 (UK)

Winter’s Tale

Watch this trailer till at least the 1:20 mark… Not what you were expecting, right?

Release Date: 21 February 2014 (UK)

Dress of The Day: Quilt Dress

November 26th, 2013

I think Miss Selfridge is slowly becoming my favourite store for dresses. I keep coming across interesting and flattering designs! I bought this dress last week and it’s so pretty, comfy and warm:

Cute, right? It’s available at Miss Selfridge for £49.

It’s Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary today! I watched The Day of the Doctor episode this evening and wow, I loved it. So to celebrate that here are two awesome Doctor Who t-shirt designs from Threadless.

Doctor-Who-Belle

This one is Adventure Awaits from Karen Hallion. It’s not the first time I’ve blogged about her awesome designs; check out more of her Disney + Doctor Who pairings in this post.

Doctor-Who

The second one is Journey Through Space and Time by Leo Canham. I love the simplicity of this!

Dinosaur, you used to be here, but you’re not anymore…

Via Sizemore

I love the propaganda look of these Avengers posters. I’ve been meaning to get the Serenity travel posters for ages, but I think these could fit quite well with those!

You can get the entire set on ThinkGeek for only $34.99.
