Video of The Day: Pivot

Episode 170: *click*

Cool animation about a photographer that stumbles upon something which he shouldn’t have:

I’m kind of in love with the following two outfits, especially the one on the right:

Ostwald Helgason

I love the combination of the simple dress with those boots and armwarmers (I need a pair of armwarmers like that!). Both dresses are part of Ostwald Helgason’s latest collection, but I can’t figure out how much they are.

I love quirky jewellery and these @ earrings would be perfect for me!

The earrings are available at Blended’s Etsy store for $14.00.

We’re less than a month away from Iron Man 2, so prepare to be bombarded with trailers, images and whatever else they come up with. This latest trailer doesn’t show any new footage, but it’s interactive. Hotspots within the video release further content once clicked on, with information on the characters and other interesting tidbits:

Interesting links for April 9th through April 12th:

  • Vintage reproduction clothing (Pin-up, burlesque & rockabilly) – The ultimate shopping list! – Great list of shops that sell vintage clothing (dresses, lingerie, swimsuits).
  • The Many Faces Of… Alan Rickman – Brilliant. This is only the first part in a new series ("exploring a new actor, actress, director or movie on a monthly basis"), so keep an eye on future ones.
  • Top 10 Fantastic Fountains – I've always loved fountains (another feature of my future mansion will be a huge dragon fountain in the backyard). My favourite is the Fountain of the Four Rivers in Rome, featuring the 4 major rivers at the time (Nile, Danube, Ganges and Plate). That one isn't included in this list, but all 10 are pretty amazing.
  • The Ultimate List of Twitter Software for Mac (50+ Apps) – Good list of clients for Twitter. I'm currently using Nambu, but still not completely satisfied with it. I think the main thing I want from a Twitter client is to a) easily see how many unread tweets I have (which most clients don't really do) and b) see threaded conversations of replies and direct messages.
  • By Zeus! The Version of Clash of The Titans You Didn’t See – If you saw my review last week of Clash of the Titans, you know how much I didn't like it. Most of my problems were with the story and I hadn't realized it had gone through so many recuts and reshoots. I wish we could have seen the original cut; it would have worked much better I think.

I still have to see My Neighbour Totoro and Ponyo (two of the few Studio Gibli movies I haven’t seen yet), but I know how adorable the characters can be. And these necklaces with them are just super cute:

I don’t think I’d actually wear something like this, but it’s still pretty. The necklaces are available in the Gypsy’s Jewels Etsy store for $12.00.

Ooh, this looks interesting! I still haven’t read any proper steam punk books, but those worlds look intriguing.

cherie_priest-Boneshaker

Here’s the description from Amazon:

At the start of the Civil War, a Russian mining company commissions a great machine to pave the way from Seattle to Alaska and speed up the gold rush that is beating a path to the frozen north. Inventor Leviticus Blue creates the machine, but on its first test run it malfunctions, decimating Seattle’s banking district and uncovering a vein of Blight Gas that turns everyone who breathes it into the living dead.

Sixteen years later Briar, Blue’s widow, lives in the poor neighborhood outside the wall that’s been built around the uninhabitable city. Life is tough with a ruined reputation, but she and her teenage son Ezekiel are surviving until Zeke impetuously decides that he must reclaim his father’s name from the clutches of history.

Boneshaker is available on Amazon.co.uk for £7.49 and on Amazon.com for $10.87.

I’m quite looking forward to the Iron Man sequel and I always love it when movies do some viral-y/ARG-y stuff to promote them. So far we haven’t seen that much in the Iron Man viral besides a bunch of mysterious websites, but I’m hoping now the release date is in sight we’ll get to see more.

The latest website is for AccuTech, a research and development company and a subsidiary of Stark Industries. Their message is that they’ll be premiering their latest breakthrough, the HazTech Exoskeleton, at the Stark Expo 2010, which is happening on the 7th of May… the release date of Iron Man 2 in the US.

I’m curious to see what else they’ll be showing and whether they’ll go into the ARG area like The Dark Knight and Tron Legacy.

Me Wantz: POW Nails

April 8th, 2010

I don’t often wear nail polish; I do love how it can look, but it just takes too much time and hassle to apply properly. Half of the times I apply it myself, I end up having to use nail polish remover to get it looking right. On the other hand, I could never imagine going to a nail salon and getting my nails done there; I can think of better things to spend my money on (like books, or movies, or games).

These nails though from WAH nails salon are pretty amazing though, and definitely something I’d never be able to do myself:

POW-nails

Comic book nails! I so want these!

Check out the WAH website for more nail designs.

Episode 169: “I like your hair. I mean… I like the air.”

You know how addicted to Dr. Horrible I am (I know the words to almost all the songs)… if you are too, you’ll love this video:

If you enjoyed that, the 8-bit soundtrack is available on this website.
